The 1750 6c was designed by a Vittorio Jano in 1929 after developing the 1500 supercharged car. He was responsible for many of the earlier race cars and the 1750 model dominated motor sport for some time to come. Only 57 of the touring road cars were commissioned by Alfa Romeo's agent in the UK and bodyied by James Young of Bromley Kent. Allegedly the bare chassis' were driven up from Italy with the driver sitting on a wooden crate! This 6C has been with the current owner for some 15 years and has taken part in many European rallies covering some 25,000 miles with the current owner. UF 6568 is the rare long wheel base model with wind up rear windows allowing additional rear legroom space making it a far more user friendly 4 seater open tourer. Not much is know about the cars history pre 1960, but post 1960 it was owned by a Jonathan Elliman. There is a letter about the cars History whilst he owned it from 1961 to 1978. In brief he undertook much work to the car during his ownership to include an engine rebuild, retrim, and new roof. It then passed through sereral owners prior to being purchased by a David Bayliss, of Beaulieu Cars LTD, and a known pre war Alfa specialist. MOT certificats around this time 1987-1991 show the mileage to be 36,000 miles and he only covered some 400 miles during that time unlike the present owner.
