An advertisment from J Smith and Co dated 1926 dispays the car and reads as follows; "The Delage 14 HP car offers really exceptional value. The chassis specification includes 4-wheel brakes, 4 speeds, 4 cylinder O.H.V engine, 5 bearing crankshaft, etc. With English coachwork of the very highest quality it is a car for outstanding elegance."
YP 7589 was believed first supplied to a French Man living in the UK in August 1926. Coachwork was by Bridgen & Co of Brighton and carried some unique build features. A letter in the cars history file records a conversation with a very elderly gent who was the trimmer at Bridgens and remembers the car due to its unique coachwork features, namely a double opening windscreen, like a mouth! The file also states that YP 7589 spent some 20 years in a Museum with the Klein collection in the USA until the 1970's when it was re-imported to the UK and became known to the Delage club and the VSCC. It featured on the front cover of the Thoroughbred & Classic Cars Magazine in 1980 and has old buff log books and FIVA documents. The car found its way to Guernsey in the Channel Islands in 1995 where it was used by its enthusiast owner and partook in many rallies and events covering just over 10,000 miles.

Please note; this car is now entered into teh Bonhams Beaulieu Autojumble Auction on teh 11th September 2010.
A suberbly engineered motorcar from the works of Louis Delage and designed as a Grand Tourer and capable of cruising at 65-70 mph. In a condition that feels like its never been restored, it just carries a charm that you hardly see on Vintage cars these days.

Very well constructed and original coachwork with some lovely touches. The door windows are power assisted, the windscreen opens both top and bottom like a mouth, the brightwork is all nickle plated and in excellent order and the paintwork has a wonderfull patina that takes decades to achieve. Some may say it requires painting whilst others, like myself thinks a repaint would totally spoil its character.

Nicely laid out mahogany dash and cappings, original and in excellent order. The door and side panel are the original pieces along with the leather Hood and Headlining. As one can imagine the hood is some 80 years old and therefore showing its age, but its still best to keep as the original. The seats front and rear and the carpets have been retrimmed in Leather & Wilton respectfully.

A powerfull 2.2 litre engine with long legs which is ideal for touring. Records show the engine underwent a rebuild at 71,248 miles and in 2005 some additional mechanical and electrical work was undertaken totalling £4,000. It has very recently had a thorough service. It is easy to drive and very well engineered. (Delage were building and winning Grand prix's in 1926 which helps one gauge the quality of production & engineering).
