This Cobra evocation drives well, being very quick and very solid at speed with its race designed chassis. The model has a keen following amongst Cobra enthusiasts. The current owner has made use of it on track days at Le Mans, Goodwood, Loheac and Pau. Well maintained – new tyres fitted in 2023 and most recently, refurbishment of the rear brakes and driveshafts – it is ready to be used and enjoyed by a new owner. The car is currently registered and located in Guernsey, with viewing by appointment. We can assist with shipping and importation processes if required.
The dark green paint finish remains in good condition and the car looks very smart. It has a colour-coordinated hood, side screens and tonneau cover.
This is a ‘full-fat’ Cobra replica, with nothing spared on building-in performance. A 5.7 litre Chevrolet Hi Output V8 motor is fitted, mated to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox. The engine sports a Holley 750 double-pumper carburettor; performance cylinder heads; racings headers and hand-made stainless steel exhaust. With a power output of 400bhp plus and over 400ftlbs of torque, pushing along a car which is almost exactly 1 tonne in weight, this is a very fast car. Making it stop is taken care of by Brembo alloy racing calipers and discs, mounted on 15” split rim alloys. The mechanical specifications include power steering and adjustable shocks.
Just as smart as the exterior, the Cobra has a full leather interior in cream, Mota Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel; new carpets and Luke harnesses.
The original 1960s Carroll Shelby AC Cobra is a race-track icon, built in very small numbers, very much sought after and only available to a few. It’s not surprising then, that in subsequent years many replicas have been built. Arguably one of the best – receiving endorsement from Carroll Shelby himself – is the LR Roadsters RAM SC.
The LR Roadsters replica makes use of a tubular spaceframe chassis designed by Formula One engineer, Dr Adrian Reynard, to provide excellent torsional stiffness and good weight distribution. Most often a donor Jaguar car was used for the running gear and an American V8 powerplant fitted. The resulting vehicle really looks the part and made an effective racing car, winning championship racing series towards the end of the Millenium. In all, it is believed 92 RAM SC were made.
The car shown here is a 1993 build, undertaken by a professional engineer rather than by LR Roadsters themselves, using a 1964 Jaguar S-Type as the donor vehicle to provide the underpinnings. It was first registered in the UK and purchased by the current owner in the late ‘90s having had very limited use, with only around 4,000 miles covered. It was imported and re-registered in Guernsey in 2006 and has been well cared for and maintained by its current custodian, with around 23,000 miles now showing.
