Overview
Overall Comments

This special Plus 4 has covered only a little over 6,000 miles from new and is in excellent, well-maintained condition throughout, with a full service history. We are offering this vehicle on behalf of a well-regarded Morgan specialist dealership based in Exmouth, Devon, who have provided new and used Morgans to the Channel Islands for some years and with whom we have enjoyed a close working relationship. The car is available for viewing in Devon, not far from Exeter airport, from where collection and drop-off can be arranged if desired. We can also assist with shipping, importation and registration processes if required.

Body

Having no bumpers fitted and finished in striking ‘Palladium Silver’ with black 15” alloy wheels, this Plus 4 looks a little special – more aggressively sporting than the traditionally styled, wire wheel examples. Discrete ‘110’ badges are carried on the car’s sides and the burgundy Mohair hood is colour matched to the car’s interior.

Mechanical

Fitted with a 2 litre Ford GDI engine, mated to a Mazda MX 5 manual transmission. Whilst this engine is normally rated at 154 bhp @6000 rpm, this Plus 4 has been remapped at the factory for a little extra ‘zip’. The Mazda gearbox provides a quick, smooth gearchange and the car feels equally at home cruising or zipping through country lanes.

Interior

Trimmed in Burgundy leather throughout with monogrammed headrests to the Comfort Plus seats and black carpets with red piping. A Moto Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel compliments the walnut dashboard.

History

The Morgan Motor Company was founded in 1910 with the specific aim of building three-wheeled “cycle cars”. With a front-mounted engine powering the single rear wheel, they quickly became known for manufacturing well-designed and well-built vehicles, proving very capable in the racing world.

Morgan's first four-wheeler – the 4/4 - was released to the public in 1936, following the same build principles as their 3-wheeled models (which were phased out in 1952). The Morgan Plus 4 was then introduced (in 1950) with a larger engine to provide more performance. This theme continued with the introduction of the Plus 8 in 1968, which made use of the Rover V8 engine. The turn of the century saw the development of new models – all still being handbuilt in traditional Morgan fashion - such as the Roadster and Aero 8, a revised Plus 4 and even a new Morgan 3-wheeler.

The Plus 4 model (produced from 2014 to 2020) is a versatile and well-balanced sports car, with more power and performance than the contemporary 4/4 model but retaining a level of fuel economy that makes it ideal for long distance touring. Built in 2019 - the 110th year of the Company – this Plus 4 is one of the limited edition ‘110 Anniversary’ models, carrying unique badging denoting it as a special edition vehicle.
